Our first hands on session

Last Sunday marked a big milestone for the Chertsey Community Garden – our very first hands-on session in the park with volunteers!
We were thrilled to welcome around six to eight enthusiastic volunteers who rolled up their sleeves and got stuck in. In just two hours, we made fantastic progress: the first flower bed was completely cleared, everything was pruned back, and we began the all-important work of digging out and refreshing the soil. We also tackled the weeds, both in the beds and around the base of the raised flower bed, giving the whole area some much-needed TLC.
The sun was shining, and the weather couldn’t have been better. It made for a lovely morning of teamwork, laughter, and getting to know one another. It was fantastic to see new faces and start building the community spirit that’s at the heart of this project.
Thank you to everyone who came along and gave their time and energy—we couldn’t have asked for a better start. We’re already looking forward to the next session and seeing the garden continue to take shape.
Stay tuned for more updates as we dig deeper (literally!) into this exciting community project.
