Hi everyone, and welcome back to the Chertsey Community Garden podcast!

We’ve had another fantastic session today, and I’m really excited to share everything we’ve accomplished.

First of all, we officially finished digging out our very first flower bed! It’s now beautifully planted with some lovely donated plants, and it’s already making the space feel more vibrant and alive. To prep the bed, we removed some of the older plants, dug out all the soil, cleared any debris, and made sure it was ready for new growth. We were lucky enough to receive a generous soil donation too, which made a huge difference—thank you to the kind donor!

While that was happening, some of our amazing volunteers were busy de-weeding around the base of the raised beds, and the whole area now looks much tidier and well cared for.

We also made a great start on the second bed. We’ve cleared out the existing plants and, thanks to one very determined volunteer, we’ve removed all the weeds and roots, leaving the bed ready for planting next Sunday.

Today wasn’t just about gardening—we were also at the Chertsey Community Fair! It was wonderful to meet so many of you, and I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who popped over to say hello, asked questions, and donated plants. Your support means so much to us.

A few people mentioned they’d like to financially support the garden, which is amazing—so we’re going to set up a GoFundMe page to help with a few essentials. We’ll keep the target modest, just enough to help us buy more plants, soil, and some wood bark to complete the raised beds.

Thanks again to our incredible volunteers and to everyone in the community for your continued support. We’ll be back next Sunday to keep growing this beautiful space—literally and figuratively!

Until then, take care and happy gardening!
